Mahindra Scorpio Price Cut: $39,990 Drive-Away 7-Seat Diesel

Mahindra has taken $4000 off the Scorpio Z8+, putting a seven-seat diesel 4x4 with low range on the road for $39,990. The catch is that the deal only covers 2025-built stock, so the car you sign for matters as much as the price.

The Mahindra Scorpio is now one of the cheapest ways into a brand-new seven-seat diesel 4x4 in Australia. Mahindra has taken $4000 off the Scorpio Z8+, dropping it to $39,990 drive-away, and $3000 off the Z8L+, which is now $45,990 drive-away.

Those prices come straight from Mahindra Australia's own offers page. The deal runs until 31 December 2026, but there is an important condition attached: it applies only to 2025-built stock.

That condition is where the smart buyer starts asking questions, and it is where most of the value or risk in this deal sits.

What the Mahindra Scorpio price cut actually looks like

Mahindra lists the normal drive-away price of the Scorpio Z8+ at $43,990. The instant rebate takes $4000 off that, leaving $39,990 drive-away.

The better-equipped Z8L+ normally sits at $48,990 drive-away. With $3000 off, it lands at $45,990 drive-away.

Drive-away pricing can differ between states because registration and stamp duty differ, so confirm the final figure with the dealer before you sign. Get it in writing as a single drive-away number, not a list price plus extras.

What $39,990 buys you

The Scorpio is not a soft-roader with a third row bolted in. Mahindra describes it as a body-on-frame seven-seat 4x4 with low range and its 4XPLOR terrain management system.

Both grades use a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel making 128.6kW and 400Nm, paired with a six-speed Aisin automatic. That is a modest output for a large SUV, but the torque arrives low, which suits towing and slow off-road work more than overtaking.

The Z8+ brings an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. Mahindra also lists a Level 2 driver-assistance system on the model.

The Z8L+ adds ventilated front seats, a six-way electrically adjustable driver's seat, wireless phone charging and a 12-speaker Sony stereo with subwoofer. For $6000 more than the discounted Z8+, that is a genuine comfort upgrade rather than badge dressing.

The 2025-build catch every Scorpio buyer should check

Mahindra markets the current MY26 Scorpio around its newly added driver-assistance systems. The discount, however, is restricted to 2025-built stock.

Before you commit, ask the dealer for the exact build date and compliance plate details of the car on offer, and ask them to confirm in writing which safety and driver-assist features that specific vehicle has. Do not assume the brochure for the latest model describes the car in the yard.

A 2025-built car sold new in late 2026 also carries an older build year from day one. That can matter at resale time, so the discount should be big enough to cover it. On a $4000 rebate it often is, but you should know you are making that trade.

Dealers clearing aged stock are also usually more flexible than the headline suggests. Ask about floor mats, tow bars, a full tank or a first service. A run-out deal is the start of the negotiation, not the end of it.

How the Scorpio stacks up against the LDV D90 diesel

The obvious rival is the LDV D90, which recently got its diesel back. LDV currently advertises the diesel D90 4WD Executive from $46,990 drive-away for ABN holders, with the offer running until 31 October 2026.

That puts the discounted Scorpio Z8+ $7000 below the cheapest diesel LDV D90 offer, and the ABN price is not what private buyers pay. Even the better-equipped Scorpio Z8L+ comes in $1000 under that ABN figure.

The D90's diesel does bring more torque, at 520Nm, and an eight-speed automatic. If you tow heavy loads every weekend, test both back to back with a trailer on, rather than shopping on price alone.

Is the Mahindra XUV700 a better seven-seat buy?

Mahindra is also discounting its other seven-seater. The XUV700 AX7 is $29,990 drive-away, down $10,000 from its normal $39,990, and the AX7L is $33,990 drive-away, down $9000. Both offers end on 31 October 2026 and again apply only to 2025-built stock.

If you mostly need seven seats for the school run and the odd beach trip, the XUV700 is the cheaper way in. If you need a diesel, low-range 4x4 hardware and a ladder-frame chassis, the Scorpio is the one built for that job.

Mahindra's local presence has been growing quietly, and aggressive rebates like these are part of how it is chasing volume.

Paying for it without giving the savings back

A $4000 rebate is easy to lose in the finance office. Dealer finance on a run-out car can carry a higher rate or extra fees that quietly cancel out the discount over a five-year loan.

Before you accept the dealer's offer, compare it. Loanseekers compares car loans across 70+ lenders, so you can walk in knowing what a fair rate looks like on a roughly $40,000 seven-seater and judge the dealer's number against it.

How can Carseekers help?

Carseekers gets dealers to compete for your business, so you see what the Mahindra Scorpio is really selling for rather than relying on one showroom's quote. On a run-out deal where stock and build dates vary from dealer to dealer, that comparison matters.

Tell us the grade you want, and we can help you find out which dealers have the stock and who will actually move on price.

The finer details

Your questions answered.

How much is the Mahindra Scorpio drive-away in Australia right now?

Mahindra lists the Scorpio Z8+ at $39,990 drive-away and the Z8L+ at $45,990 drive-away under its current offer. That is $4000 and $3000 off their normal drive-away prices of $43,990 and $48,990. Confirm the final figure for your state with the dealer.

When does the Mahindra Scorpio discount end?

Mahindra says the Scorpio offer ends on 31 December 2026. It applies only to 2025-built stock, so availability depends on what each dealer still has. Popular colours and grades can sell out well before the end date.

What engine does the Mahindra Scorpio have?

Both grades use a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel making 128.6kW and 400Nm. It drives through a six-speed Aisin automatic, with 4x4 and low range. The torque arrives low in the rev range, which suits towing and off-road driving.

Is the Mahindra Scorpio cheaper than the LDV D90 diesel?

Yes, on current advertised offers. The discounted Scorpio Z8+ is $39,990 drive-away, while LDV advertises the diesel D90 4WD Executive from $46,990 drive-away for ABN holders. Private buyers pay more than the ABN price for the D90.

What should I check before buying a 2025-built Mahindra Scorpio?

Ask the dealer for the exact build date and get written confirmation of which safety and driver-assist features that specific car has. Mahindra promotes the MY26 Scorpio's added driver-assist systems, but the discount covers 2025-built stock. Also ask for extras like tow bars or mats, since run-out stock is usually negotiable.

What is the difference between the Scorpio Z8+ and Z8L+?

The Z8L+ adds ventilated front seats, a six-way electric driver's seat, wireless phone charging and a 12-speaker Sony stereo. On the current offer it costs $6000 more than the Z8+. If you spend long days on the road, the comfort upgrades are worth a test drive.
