2027 GWM Haval H7 Price: Hybrid vs PHEV, Lux vs Vanta

The all-new GWM Haval H7 lands as a boxy all-wheel drive hybrid SUV in four variants. During the launch offer the Lux PHEV costs the same as the Vanta hybrid, so the real choice is plug versus features. Here is how the price steps work and what to confirm before you sign.

The 2027 GWM Haval H7 price in Australia starts at $45,990 drive-away, but only while a $1000 launch offer runs on the entry Lux grades. The new H7 is a completely different SUV from the one it replaces: upright and boxy, with all-wheel drive across the range.

There are four variants. Each grade, Lux and Vanta, comes as a hybrid (HEV) or a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and the official GWM Haval H7 configurator lists every one with Hi4 all-wheel drive.

Every 2027 Haval H7 price in one place

These are GWM's drive-away prices for private buyers in Victoria, checked on the official configurator on 30 October 2026.

Lux HEV, $45,990 with the launch offer. Vanta HEV, $49,990. Lux PHEV, $49,990 with the launch offer. Vanta PHEV, $53,990.

The H7 model page says the $1000 launch offer applies to the Lux HEV and Lux PHEV only, and ends on 30 November 2026. Take it away and the two Lux grades sit at $46,990 and $50,990.

The real Haval H7 decision: plug or features?

Run the numbers and a clear pattern appears. Going from hybrid to plug-in hybrid adds $4000 in either grade. Going from Lux to Vanta adds $4000 now, or $3000 once the launch offer ends.

That means that, until the end of November, the Lux PHEV and the Vanta HEV cost exactly the same $49,990. You are choosing between a plug and the Vanta's extra kit, not between a cheap car and a dear one.

The plug-in hybrid is the performance pick. GWM quotes up to 320kW and 670Nm, 0 to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds, up to 137km of electric-only range and up to 844km combined range on its H7 page.

Read the footnote, though. GWM says those range figures come from its own internal testing under optimal conditions. If you can charge at home and your daily driving is short, the PHEV makes sense. If you cannot plug in, the extra $4000 buys a battery you will rarely use.

Built for gravel, not just the school run

The adventure positioning has some substance. GWM lists a locking rear differential, a 4x4 Expert Mode, eight drive modes and a full-size spare mounted on the tailgate, along with a 15.6-inch touchscreen and 360-degree camera across the range.

It is still a car-like SUV rather than a body-on-frame off-roader. If you plan serious off-road work or heavy towing, the GWM Tank 300 is the tougher showroom-mate, and you should confirm the H7's braked towing capacity with the dealer before you commit.

Haval H7 vs Haval H6: the overlap buyers should know about

The H7 lands right on top of its showroom-mate. The Haval H6 configurator lists the H6 Ultra HEV AWD from $47,490 drive-away and the Ultra PHEV AWD from $50,990 drive-away.

So an all-wheel drive H7 Lux HEV undercuts the all-wheel drive H6 hybrid by $1500 during the launch offer, and by $500 after it. Beyond price, the H7 brings the squarer body, the locking rear diff and the full-size spare.

If you only need front-wheel drive, the H6 still offers cheaper entry points. Compare the two on our Haval H7 and Haval H6 pages. If you need a third row, see our earlier coverage of the Haval H7 Plus.

Five things to confirm before you sign for an H7

First, get the drive-away price for your state in writing. GWM's advertised figures are for private buyers in Victoria, and on-road costs differ elsewhere.

Second, check the paint. GWM's configurator adds $595 for metallic paint, so the advertised price only covers the included colour.

Third, confirm the launch offer applies to your exact car. GWM's fine print says it applies at participating dealers and can be amended or withdrawn, and the general pricing footnote on the configurator still refers to cars ordered and delivered by 30 September 2026. Ask the dealer to put the offer and its deadline on the contract.

Fourth, ask for the capped-price service schedule for the AWD model. The only H7 service price sheet we found on GWM's site is labelled H7 HEV 2WD, which does not match this all-wheel drive line-up.

Fifth, check the warranty terms. GWM's H7 page lists a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty for private buyers, dropping to seven years or 150,000km for commercial use such as rental, hire or taxi work.

Paying for it: dealer finance is only one quote

GWM's configurator includes a finance calculator from its partner lender, and the dealer may offer finance too. Treat either as one quote, not the only one. Loanseekers can help you compare car-finance options before you commit, subject to lender criteria.

If a new H7 stretches the budget, a used SUV from another brand may be worth comparing. You can browse used SUVs in Victoria on Carseekers and weigh them against the new car's price.

The finer details

Your questions answered.

How much is the 2027 GWM Haval H7 in Australia?

GWM lists the H7 from $45,990 drive-away for the Lux HEV, a price that includes a $1000 launch offer ending 30 November 2026. The Vanta HEV and Lux PHEV are both $49,990 drive-away, and the flagship Vanta PHEV is $53,990 drive-away. These prices are for private buyers in Victoria.

Is the new Haval H7 all-wheel drive?

Yes. All four variants in GWM's Australian configurator use Hi4 all-wheel drive, whether you choose the hybrid or the plug-in hybrid. GWM also lists a locking rear differential and eight drive modes.

Should I buy the Haval H7 hybrid or PHEV?

The PHEV costs $4000 more than the hybrid in the same grade. GWM quotes up to 320kW and up to 137km of electric-only range for the PHEV, based on its own internal testing. It makes most sense if you can charge at home and do mostly short trips.

Is the Haval H7 cheaper than the Haval H6 AWD?

Slightly. The H7 Lux HEV is $46,990 drive-away without its launch offer, against $47,490 for the H6 Ultra HEV AWD on GWM's configurator. The H7 is the boxier, more adventure-focused option, while the H6 range also offers cheaper front-wheel drive versions.
