Jaecoo J7 Black Edition: $49,990 Deal and the Fine Print

The Jaecoo J7 Black Edition is $49,990 drive-away, but only on new stock ordered in November. We compare it with the Summit AWD, explain the gift card gap and flag the finance conditions to check before you sign.

The Jaecoo J7 Black Edition is on sale in Australia at $49,990 drive-away, but that figure is a November offer rather than a fixed price. Jaecoo's Black Edition terms say it applies to new stock MY27 cars with no metallic paint or options.

Those cars must be ordered from participating dealers between 1 and 30 November 2026, while stocks last. That makes timing, and the perks attached to each grade, the real buying decision.

Where the Black Edition sits in the J7 range

Jaecoo's J7 SHS-P page lists these November drive-away offer prices for the plug-in hybrid range, each with no metallic paint or optional extras:

- Track 2WD: $39,990 - Summit 2WD: $44,990 - Summit AWD: $47,990 - Black Edition AWD: $49,990

The Track and Summit prices apply to cars ordered by 30 November 2026 and delivered by 31 December 2026. Jaecoo says the actual drive-away price may differ with your location, state taxes and CTP.

What the extra $2000 actually buys

On paper the Black Edition costs $2000 more than the Summit AWD. Jaecoo's Black Edition page lists a black waterfall grille, new-look wheels, black trims, and gloss-black mirror posts and roof rails.

Inside, it gets a dark headliner and pillar trims. It uses the Super Hybrid System, pairing a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with an electric motor on each axle to drive all four wheels.

Jaecoo notes its Black Edition imagery shows an overseas car and that Australian specification differs. Check the exact wheels and trim on the car you are offered.

The gift card is advertised on the Summit, not the Black Edition

The real gap can be wider than $2000. On Jaecoo's current offers page, the Summit AWD is advertised with a $1000 gift card plus a 1.88% p.a. comparison rate. The Black Edition listing shows the rate but no gift card.

Jaecoo's gift card terms say the card can be waived at the point of sale for an equivalent deduction from the purchase price. Counted that way, a Summit AWD works out at $46,990 against $49,990, a $3000 difference.

The written gift card terms only exclude the J5 EV and J5 HEV. Ask the dealer to confirm in writing whether a Black Edition order gets the card.

Check the 1.88% finance fine print

The J7 SHS-P finance terms base the 1.88% comparison rate on a secured $30,000 loan over five years. The offer itself only runs on a 36-month term, with no balloon allowed.

Applications must be approved by 30 November 2026 and settled by 14 December 2026. The comparison rate excludes government charges and a dealer origination fee of up to $1495.

Those written terms name the Track 2WD, Summit 2WD and Summit AWD, but not the Black Edition, even though the offers page shows the rate on the Black Edition listing. Get the dealer to confirm the rate applies to your exact car.

A 36-month term with no balloon means the whole amount is repaid within three years. Before you accept dealer finance, Loanseekers can help you compare car loan options over a term that suits your budget. Rates, fees and approval depend on your circumstances and the lender.

Questions to ask before you sign

- Is this car new stock, and is the order being placed by 30 November 2026? - Does the contract show $49,990 drive-away, with no metallic paint or options? - Does the $1000 gift card apply to a Black Edition, and is it on the contract? - Does the 1.88% finance offer cover the Black Edition, and what is the origination fee?

If you are unsure what a drive-away figure covers, our guide to drive-away price versus list price explains the difference.

Weigh it against a used hybrid SUV

If a new J7 stretches the budget, a used hybrid SUV may be worth comparing. Browse Carseekers' used hybrid cars in Victoria to compare against the price of a new Black Edition.

Check the powertrain on each listing before you compare running costs, because a regular hybrid and a plug-in hybrid are charged and driven differently.
