BYD EOFY 2026: 1.88% Finance on Shark 6 and Sealion Range

BYD Australia is running a limited EOFY finance offer across four plug-in hybrid models, including the Shark 6 Premium ute and the Sealion 5, 6 and 8. The 1.88 per cent comparison rate runs until 29 June, with delivery required by 30 June.

BYD Australia is offering a limited-time finance deal across four of its plug-in hybrid models to coincide with the end of the financial year. The offer runs a 1.88 per cent per annum comparison rate over a three-year term and applies to the Shark 6 Premium, the Sealion 5 in both grades, all variants of the Sealion 6, and all grades of the Sealion 8.

Applications must be submitted by 29 June 2026. Settlement and delivery must also be completed by 30 June. BYD has noted that buyers who order within the campaign period but cannot take delivery in time may have their cases reviewed individually for an extension.

The offer excludes demonstrator models and requires approval for consumer or commercial finance.

BYD Shark 6 Premium: The One to Target

The Shark 6 Premium is the most capable variant of BYD's plug-in hybrid ute and the most compelling EOFY option in the range. It is priced at $57,990 before on-road costs.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine combined with electric motors, producing 321kW and 650Nm. Total claimed range is 800km, with the blade battery accepting up to 55kW DC fast charging. BYD claims 25 minutes from 25 to 100 per cent capacity.

The Shark 6 also includes vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, which allows the ute to power external accessories. For tradies and campers, that is a genuine working tool, not a marketing line.

Braked towing capacity on the Premium grade is 3,500kg, following the performance upgrade that addressed the original 2,500kg limit. The finance deal makes the Premium the most accessible it has been since launch.

Sealion 5 PHEV: The Budget Entry Point

The Sealion 5 PHEV is the most affordable model in the campaign, starting at $33,990 for the Essential grade and $37,990 for the Premium, both before on-road costs.

Essential combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a single electric motor at the front wheels for 156kW combined output. The 12.9kWh battery rates at 71km of electric-only range, with combined fuel consumption of 4.5 litres per 100km.

Premium upgrades to an 18.3kWh battery, extending electric range to 100km. For buyers who do most of their driving in the metro area, that range means many weeks of petrol-free commuting.

At $33,990 entry for a PHEV small SUV from a brand with a growing dealer and service network in Australia, the Sealion 5 is genuinely competitive. The 1.88 per cent rate over three years further reduces the monthly cost compared to manufacturer finance from most rivals.

Sealion 6: The Volume Sweet Spot

The Sealion 6 is the most popular BYD PHEV in Australia and the model that makes the most sense for buyers replacing a mid-size family SUV. It starts at $42,990 for Essential, $46,990 for Dynamic Extended Range, and $52,990 for the top-spec Premium Extended Range.

The Essential front-wheel-drive variant combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine and electric motor for 160kW and 300Nm, with a combined range of over 1,000km and 100km electric-only range from the 18.3kWh battery.

The Dynamic Extended Range lifts that battery to 26.6kWh for 140km of electric range, which covers the daily commute for almost all Australian households without ever touching the petrol engine.

The Premium AWD adds a rear motor for 253kW and 550Nm, all-wheel drive, and 128km electric range. That variant at $52,990 stacks up favourably against comparable Toyota RAV4 PHEVs and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEVs that list at or above $60,000.

Sealion 8: The Seven-Seat PHEV Family Hauler

The Sealion 8 is BYD's seven-seat family SUV, available from $56,990 for the Dynamic FWD variant, $63,990 for the Dynamic AWD, and $70,990 for the Premium AWD, all before on-road costs.

The Dynamic FWD pairs the 1.5-litre petrol engine with a single motor for 205kW, with 103km of electric-only range from its battery.

The AWD Dynamic doubles motor count for 359kW and 675Nm, with a much larger 35.6kWh blade battery extending electric range to 152km. It covers zero to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds. The Premium AWD retains that powertrain but adds adaptive suspension, drilled rotors, terrain modes, a 26-inch head-up display, massage seats front and second row, and a 21-speaker sound system.

At $70,990 list, the Sealion 8 Premium undercuts seven-seat PHEV rivals from Kia, Hyundai, and Toyota by a meaningful margin once the 1.88 per cent finance rate is applied.

How to Read the Fine Print

The 1.88 per cent is a comparison rate, which means it includes fees and charges alongside the interest rate. The headline number is 1.88 per cent per annum over three years.

No minimum deposit or balloon payment is permitted under this offer, which is relevant for buyers who want a straight term loan without any deferred liability. The offer applies to both consumer and commercial applicants, making it usable for businesses looking to get a Shark 6 or Sealion 8 under the $20,000 instant asset write-off threshold that was extended in this year's federal budget.

Delivery is the critical variable. BYD's stock position for the Shark 6 has improved considerably since the initial wait lists of 2025, but buyers should confirm with their dealer before signing. Carseekers recommends getting delivery confirmation in writing as part of any EOFY purchase.

Is This a Good Deal?

The short answer is yes, if you were already planning to buy one of these vehicles. The 1.88 per cent comparison rate is well below current standard personal loan rates, which typically sit between 7 and 12 per cent for creditworthy borrowers.

Over a three-year term on a $57,990 Shark 6 Premium, the difference between 1.88 per cent and 8 per cent is roughly $6,000 to $7,000 in interest costs. That is a material saving, not a rounding error.

For buyers on the fence between models, this offer does not change the calculus. The Shark 6 is a better choice if you need a ute that can tow and do real work. The Sealion 6 is the right call if you want a family SUV with strong electric range. The finance rate simply makes the purchase more affordable for anyone who was planning to borrow.
