Honda Servicing Costs Up 40%: Now $279 Per Service

Honda has lifted its capped service price by 40 per cent, from $199 to $279, for petrol and hybrid models bought from 1 October 2026. Only the electric Super-ONE escapes, and demo buyers lose out more than most.

Honda servicing costs in Australia have jumped by 40 per cent. Honda petrol and hybrid models bought on or after 1 October 2026 now cost $279 for each of the first five standard scheduled services, up from $199.

The only exception is the all-electric Honda Super-ONE, which keeps the old $199 price for its first five standard services. For everything else in the range, from the Civic and HR-V to the ZR-V, CR-V and Accord, the new price applies.

Your contract date decides what you pay

The rule that matters most is when you signed. Honda's own servicing pages split the pricing by contract date, not delivery date.

If you signed a new Honda contract between 1 October 2022 and 30 September 2026, you keep the $199 price for your first five standard services. If you signed on or after 1 October 2026, you pay $279.

Anyone who signed in the last few weeks of September should check their paperwork. The date on the contract decides which price you get.

What the 40 per cent rise costs you over five years

Five standard services used to cost $995. They now cost $1,395, an extra $400 over the period the capped price applies to.

Spread across five years, that is about $80 a year, or under $7 a month. It will not break a household budget, but it does change the value maths Honda has leaned on since it reworked its sales model.

Honda's servicing price has more than doubled since 2021

This is not Honda's first increase. New Hondas purchased between 1 July 2021 and 30 September 2022 came with five low price services at $125 each.

That moved to $199 for cars bought from 1 October 2022, and now to $279. From $125 to $279 is a 123 per cent rise in a little over five years.

Five services that cost $625 for a 2021 buyer now cost $1,395. That is an extra $770 for exactly the same five service visits.

What the $279 service actually covers

For petrol and hybrid models, the five low price services cover the standard scheduled visits from 12 months or 10,000km through to 66 months or 55,000km. Turbo models with an oil life monitor may need oil changes sooner if the monitor calls for it.

The Super-ONE runs a longer schedule, with its five $199 services stretching from 12 months or 15,000km out to 66 months or 80,000km.

The capped price covers only the items listed in the owner's service schedule. Anything extra, such as tyres, brake pads or wear items outside the schedule, is charged on top. Ask your Honda Centre for a written quote before approving extra work.

Demo buyers get fewer cheap services

Here is the detail many buyers miss. Ex-demonstrator and ex-service centre Hondas receive only three low price services, not five.

A demo can look like a bargain on the windscreen, but you lose two capped services in the deal. Factor that into any saving before you sign.

No haggling means running costs matter more

Under the Honda Price Promise, a new Honda costs the same at every Honda Centre in your state or territory. You cannot negotiate the sticker down, so the real comparison between Honda and its rivals comes down to the total cost of owning the car.

Servicing is a big part of that. Before you commit, line up the capped-price schedule for any rival you are cross-shopping, such as the Toyota RAV4 or Toyota Corolla, over the same five years and kilometres.

The warranty has not changed. Every new Honda still comes standard with a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty and five years of premium roadside assistance.

The Super-ONE now looks smarter on paper

Holding the electric Super-ONE at $199 is a clear nudge towards Honda's EV. If you are already weighing up the Honda Super-ONE electric hot hatch, the $400 servicing gap over five services now sits firmly in its favour.

For buyers looking at the CR-V, HR-V or Civic, it is one more item to weigh alongside the issues we raised in four fixes Honda needs to win Australian sales.

Get the finance right, not just the servicing

With the Honda price fixed, the other big cost you can still control is your loan. A dealer finance offer pitched at the counter is rarely the sharpest rate available.

Loanseekers compares your car loan against 70 different lenders to find the best offer on the exact Honda you are buying, whether that is a Civic, a CR-V hybrid or a Super-ONE. Saving even a small amount on the rate can easily cover the extra $400 Honda now charges for servicing.

Lock in your finance before you sign the contract, so the dealer's finance office cannot set the terms for you.

The bottom line for Honda buyers

Honda servicing is no longer the bargain it was, but $279 a visit is still capped and predictable. The buyers who lose out most are those buying demos, or those who never read the contract date and service schedule.

Check your contract date, confirm how many capped services you get, and budget for the full five years before you commit.

The finer details

Your questions answered.

How much does a Honda service cost in Australia in 2026?

For Honda petrol and hybrid models bought on or after 1 October 2026, each of the first five standard scheduled services costs $279. Cars bought between 1 October 2022 and 30 September 2026 keep the earlier $199 price. Extra work outside the standard schedule is charged on top.

Why did Honda servicing go up from $199 to $279?

Honda has set a new capped price of $279 for its first five standard services on petrol and hybrid cars bought from 1 October 2026. It is the brand's second increase since 2021, when the capped price was $125. Over five services, the new pricing adds $400 compared with the $199 structure.

Does the Honda Super-ONE cost $279 to service?

No. The all-electric Super-ONE keeps the $199 price for its first five standard services. Its schedule also runs longer, at 12 months or 15,000km between visits, so it is now the cheapest Honda to service.

How does the Honda price rise compare with servicing a Toyota RAV4?

Line up both brands' capped-price schedules over the same five years and kilometres before you decide. Because Honda sells at one set price across each state or territory, running costs such as servicing are where the real difference between rivals shows up. Ask each dealer for the full five-year servicing total in writing.

Do demo Hondas get five capped price services?

No. Ex-demonstrator and ex-service centre Hondas receive three low price services, not five. Count the two lost capped services against any discount before you sign for a demo.

What does a $279 Honda capped price service include?

It covers only the items listed for that interval in your Owner's Warranty and Service Manual, such as the oil and filter change and scheduled checks. For petrol and hybrid models the five capped services run from 12 months or 10,000km through to 66 months or 55,000km. Anything outside the schedule is extra, so ask for a quote first.
