The Mercedes S-Class recall published on 30 October 2026 covers 192 Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class sedans from the 2022 to 2024 model years. The problem is the front axle brake hoses, which may become damaged over time.
The official notice is REC-006757 on the federal Vehicle Recalls site, listed under Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific campaign RC5239. Repairs are free at a Mercedes-Benz dealer.
What can go wrong with the S-Class brake hoses
The notice says a manufacturing defect means the front axle brake hoses may become damaged over time. If that happens, brake fluid can leak and braking performance can drop.
It also says reduced braking performance could increase the risk of a crash causing injury or death to people in the car and other road users. A fault that can develop over time is a good reason to act early instead of waiting for it to cause a problem.
Check the VIN, not the badge
The recall covers certain cars, not every S-Class built in those years. The only reliable way to know is the vehicle identification number (VIN), the 17-character code unique to each car.
Search the published VIN list for REC-006757 for your car. We downloaded it on 4 November 2026 and it contains 192 unique VINs, matching the affected-unit count on the notice.
If the VIN is on the list, book the work with your nearest Mercedes-Benz dealer. For questions, the notice lists the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Centre on 1300 762 718.
Buying a used 2022 to 2024 S-Class? Ask three questions
Cars from these model years can be sold second-hand, so the recall matters to buyers as much as owners. Before you pay a deposit, ask the seller:
What is the full VIN? Check it against the recall list yourself.
If the car is listed, has the brake hose work been done? Ask for the dealer paperwork showing it.
If it has not been done, who books the repair? Agree whether it will be completed before delivery, or whether you are comfortable booking it yourself straight after purchase.
An open recall with a free fix is not a reason to walk away on its own. It is a reason to get the paperwork sorted before money changes hands. Your rights also depend on how you buy, so read our guide to used car statutory warranty and cooling-off rules by state.
We have also covered the Mercedes G580 wheel bolt recall. Whatever late-model Mercedes you are considering, a VIN check takes a minute.
Financing a used luxury sedan
A used S-Class or Maybach is a big purchase, and recall status is worth settling before you sign a finance contract. If you are weighing up how to pay for a car like this, Loanseekers can help you compare car-finance options. Approval and terms depend on the car, the lender and your own circumstances.
For the price side of your next purchase, Carseekers helps buyers compare and negotiate on the models it covers.
The finer details
Your questions answered.
Is my Mercedes S-Class affected by the brake hose recall?
Only certain 2022 to 2024 S-Class and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class sedans are included, 192 in total. Search for your VIN in the REC-006757 VIN list on the federal Vehicle Recalls site, or call the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Centre on 1300 762 718.
How much does the S-Class brake hose recall repair cost?
Nothing. The recall notice asks owners to contact a Mercedes-Benz dealer to have the work carried out free of charge. The Customer Assistance Centre is on 1300 762 718.
Should I buy a used S-Class that is on the recall list?
It can still be a sound purchase, but confirm whether the brake hose work has been done and ask for the dealer paperwork. If it has not, agree who will book the free repair before you pay.
